Parent Checklists

Whether you’re just joining or ready to start the new Scouting year, we’ve prepared a set of checklists to help you along the way.

While not exhaustive, we hope they will help you!

Start of year

What do you need at the start of the Scouting year, or when you first join?

Meetings

What should you do in advance of each meeting?

Camps and Events

Throughout the year we run special events and camps, which have different requirements.

Start of the Year

The start of a Scouting year, whenever you may join, can be confusing for youth and parents alike. Take a look at our checklist below, to help guide you.

  • VAttend our fall parent meeting, or watch the replay
  • VCompletion the registration update form, and select a parental role
  • VLogin to ScoutsTracker for your section, or new section, using the "For Parents" links above
  • VSubscribe to your youth's calendar in ScoutsTracker, and mark any long-term events
  • VMark any personal events / skills in ScoutsTracker

For Every Meeting

Your Scouters will do their best to send emails in advance of meetings and events, however we ask that you stay updated on the ScoutsTracker schedule and emails from your event.

Many events and meetings will have deadlines for sign-ups and payments, so please watch for those!

  • VCheck the ScoutsTracker calendar for meeting details, locations, and what to bring
  • VYouth should wear their uniform, with any newly awarded badges sewn on, unless otherwise indicated
  • VDress for the weather - indoors, outdoors, rain, heat, cold, etc.
  • VGo to the bathroom before arriving, some meeting locations don't have a washroom!
  • VBring dues, unless your section pays dues in advance
  • VDo not arrive early, or arrive and leave your youth - we must have 2 Scouters present for meetings
  • VIf attending or volunteering, ensure that you have completed all the screening steps

For Camps and Events

We love to camp and attend special events! Your Scouters will do their best to inform you of any upcoming events, along with any fees and their due date, if applicable, and deadlines to register.

  • VMark your youth as attending, or not attending, well in advance
  • VMake payments of any fees in advance of the deadline; those in arrears may not be permitted to attend.
  • VIf you plan to attend with your youth, ensure the Contact Scouter is aware, and that you have completed all screening steps well in advance
  • VCheck the camp/event kit list, youth are expected to pack themselves with your oversight
  • VParticipate in camp prep events, such as planning or shopping
  • VDon't arrive early, and communicate with Scouters if any delay occurs
  • VPlan to stay the entire event; it is very difficult to accommodate late arrivals or departures
